Welcome to the 2021 WEDU PBS Hall of Heroes! The Hall of Heroes is a place for nonprofit communities in the West Central Florida area to network, engage and promote their mission. All honorees that applied for this years' Be More Awards were invited to feature their organization alongside their logo and links to their website and important resources. All of these organizations were invited to include a message of positivity for our community, highlighting their hard work and spreading positivity.

We train journalists locally and around the world. Our primary programs serving Tampa Bay are community events (in person or online) that give local citizens a chance to meet prominent national journalists, and student writing programs including the Write Field, a writing and mentoring program for African-American and Hispanic middle school boys in St. Petersburg.

Tidewell Hospice volunteer Col. (Ret.) Tarek Mekhail performed pinning ceremonies tor the Tidewell Honors Veterans Program, following safety protocols and making sure our nation’s heroes received gratitude and honor for a job well done and a life well-lived. Like Tarek, Tidewell’s army of 1,200 volunteers make a difference every day for patients and their loved ones.

Because our facility is only 1,700 sq. ft., we rely mostly on volunteer foster families to take animals into their homes until they get new forever families. As a result of our limited capacity in space, we are unable to take stray animals and do not have an open admissions policy.
